Melting Antarctica: Measuring Climate Warming and Ecological Change at the Antarctic Peninsula

Welcome to Ice Stories: Dispatches from Polar Scientists. A collaborative effort with San Francisco ExplOratorium! In celebration of the International Polar Year, our own Maria Vernet, one of the project leaders for the Palmer Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project gives an up-close-and-personal look at the research on the Western Antarctic Peninsula. Her live telecasts from Palmer station begin on January 4th, 2007. She will share her insights into the research on the peninsula and take us with her into the field as she explores the Antarctic waters for phytoplankton. Follow along as we post her experiences, photo's, and videos right here or check out The ExplOratorium web page. too.
