Education and Outreach
Since its inception in 1990, education is central to the research and science of the Palmer Long Term Ecological Research (Pal LTER) program. Our program's vision emphasizes informing the global community of its responsibility to understand the polar ocean environment, supporting the next generation of young scientists and providing clarity for those in pursuit of lifelong learning and ocean literacy. We support educational opportunities for undergraduates, graduates, post doctorate students, elementary, middle and high school teachers and their students, educational professionals and the general public. To stimulate and increase the publics' knowledge and excitement surrounding the science along the western Antarctic peninsula (WAP), Palmer LTER actively engages in outreach opportunities, seeking partnerships with a wide vareity of informal science centers, universities, science museums, aquariums, nonprofit organizations, corporations, broadcast media, community and govenment leaders. We welcome new and innovative ways to infuse the science of the Antarctic into the best practices of teaching and learning.
