Hey There! I'm Stephanie Coronesi - an English teacher masquerading as a scientist during the Laurence M. Gould's 2002 summer cruise. I grew up in Long Island, NY and attended the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University where I double majored in English Education and Theatre. After graduating in 1997 I moved up to Boston where I lived for nearly four years, holding down a variety of illustrious jobs while attempting to figure out where I actually wanted to settle down. Time has found me back in NY, near my family and friends, with a little brother on the way! I was an Instructional Assistant at Mystic Valley Regional Charter School in Malden, Massachusetts last year, where I had the privilege of working with some truly fantastic kids. I've been subbing in New York since I moved back in September, which afforded me the time flexibility to make this journey, and I look forward to having my own high school or middle school classroom in the fall. When not teaching or trekking to infrequently visited continents, I enjoy reading, writing, muddling through crossword puzzles, crocheting and cooking. I've also recently been introduced to the joys of fishing! It amazes me how life presents these opportunities to see and do things I never dreamed I'd experience. I plan to get the most out of these unexpected boons as they present themselves; to "suck the marrow out of life," and all that jazz... This trip has broadened my knowledge of the world immeasurably. I've seen sights that I never could have previously fathomed, and it's been a blast trying to effectively relay them back to the classrooms via email. Likewise, I've been blessed with the most amazing friends and family, and it thrills me to be able to share this experience with them. I hear that fellow shipmates have forwarded this web site on to those near and dear to them at home, and I hope they're enjoying it as well!
