grid ltergen nov91-ongoing LTER grid location latitude&longitude for standard grids including Western Antarctic Peninsula grid, Palmer basin grid, inshore grid, picket line 3/10/multi grids and high density 1 grid. Latitude, Longitude Peninsula grids sampled annually (January); Palmer basin grid sampled seasonally (November through March). The lter grid uses station 600.040 just off Palmer Station as the center point to a universal transverse mercator projection rather than the standard mercator projection used in standard nautical charts in order to provide a grid that is appproximatelyh Cartesian near the center point. The Palmer Basin grid contains two short transects within the station's 2 mile limit. The Peninsula grid uses station 600.040 just off Palmer Station as the center point to a universal transverse mercator projection. The grid is rotated 50 degrees east of north, roughly parallel to the penisula. The grid names are referred to as (km north east).(km north west) and calculated with a program (ltergrid). The high density and picket grids were developed for bird foraging investigations. The inshore grid was developed to investigate higher trophic level activity along shore. Antarctic ascii Raymond C.
