chn 0001pal 10/13/00 through 03-29-01 Samples were taken from Go-Flo bottles and analyzed at the Marine Science Institute in Santa Barbara, CA for particulate organic carbon and nitrogen. year, julian day, date, station, time (GMT hour), time (GMT minutes), latitude (degrees), lat. (minutes), longitude (degrees), long. (minutes), irradiance (%), depth (meters), C (ug/l), N (ug/l). Water was sampled at Palmer inshore stations B and E from a Go-flo bottle tripped at the surface, and bottles tripped at depths corresponding to 50, 25, 10, 5, and 1 percent of measured PAR. When ice prevented water column sampling, surface water was collected and filtered from the vicinity of the sea water intake (Arthur Harbor) at Palmer Station. Samples were filtered onto combusted (450 degrees for 20 minutes) GF/F filters, wrapped in aluminum foil and dried for a minimum of 24 hours at 250 degrees Celcius. Samples were sealed in ziplock bags with ascarite for storage until analysis. Sample analysis was performed at the Marine Science Institute's Analytical Laboratory in Santa Barbara, CA, on a Leeman Labs Model CE 440 CHN analyzer. Water sampled at depths which corresponded to light levels used in primary productivity simulated in situ experiments (see Sampling Frequency, above). Values of -999 represent missing data. An average of the Palmer season's daily experimental (filtered sea water rinse) blanks were subtracted from raw values for final data. Average blank value for C filters was 10.28 ug, and for N 1.58 ug. Station "SWI" is Palmer Station Sea Water Intake water.
